I don’t want you to waste your time or money on social media ads. Instead, I would like you to read this blog and learn the best ways to use social media paid advertising to grow your business.
If you haven’t learned the value of social media, then this post will not help you. I also don’t want to spoil the end of “FRIENDS” for you either, but Ross does get Rachel in the end. On the other hand, if you have been integrating your businesses presence into the world of social media, then you have probably noticed the ads and “promoted” posts on different platforms. Maybe you have also wondered, “Would this work for me?”
Here is why it won’t. If your investment into social media paid advertisement can be compared to a cannon shot in the dark of an otherwise nonexistent marketing strategy, then don’t do it. You will waste your money, and not get any of the value that is out there in this type of advertising. Paid social media advertising should be like hitting the nitro button in the middle of a video game where you need that extra boost to pass your competitor to finish first. It is not a parachute string you pull after jumping out of the plane without any idea where you want to land.
Think of social media advertising as smart billboards. Billboards are effective, because everyone sees them. Social media ads are like billboards that allow you to target who and when people get to see a message that you tailor for that specific group. It’s difference between the T-800 in the first Terminator movie, and the T-1000 in Terminator 2. The first was big and scary, and would intimidate just about anyone. The T-1000 could shape shift in order to be the most effective at specifically scaring you.
Here is the bottom line. Work on a general marketing campaign that incorporates social media into it. Secondly, put together a plan for social media that gets interaction from others as well as puts your brand out there in a way that best represents your business. Finally, do some research of who you want to reach with your ad (Hint: you can’t get everyone), and connect your social media advertising to the platforms and trending topics that will best reach them. For a little extra touch, add some personality to your post. Also, make sure that it does not just tell people something, but asks them to take action and connect with your business.
Don’t waste money on social media ads. Do some research, and allow paid social media advertising to give you the boost you need to power past the competition.
